So you’ve sold a few items on eBay from around your house. Congrats! By selling your first items on eBay, you’re ahead of 90% of people who hope to sell on eBay. You’re ahead of those people who dream about selling but never do anything to get there.

Maybe you’re starting to wonder, what should I do now? After you’ve sold the extra stuff around your house for a few bucks, where does the real money on eBay come from?

To answer that question, let’s talk business. What makes a business successful? What turns a single small hamburger stand into the hugely successful McDonald’s chain? The answer is that the money is made through the system. The system is the optimized and repeatable process that works all the time, every time. For your business, you want to create great systems that work without you having to be there. Having your products automatically put on eBay and sold while you sleep is a great example of this.

There are some amazing tools to help you create systems, and they free you from sitting in front of the computer all the time. It’s an awesome feeling waking up the next morning and seeing how much more money you got in your account. It’s almost like you get paid to sleep.

Tip 2: Keep Your Finger on the Pulse. If you want a quick, big-picture snapshot of what people are looking to buy on eBay, then go to http://pulse.ebay.com. This is a page where eBay lists the top 10 most searched for words in each category, the most watched items, and also displays the top 5 largest eBay stores. At a glance, you can easily spot current trends. For example, right now all of the top stores are selling media items, either books or music. That suggests that these categories are strong sellers.

The eBay Pulse is a great tool to help you start identifying what is most often searched for on eBay, and what the buyer is looking for. Type those highly searched items in to the search bar and see how much competition there is. Once you find an item that is highly searched for but has a low number of competitors, you know what you should be trying to find to sell.

One of my media instructors, taught me that sometimes, contrary to what your mom told you, cheating is the best way. That wonderful video that you took has an audio track that can be re-used and re syndicated perhaps even as a podcast. Look mom, no additional work. The last of our tips today, has to do with making your site look seriously professional. While you might be able to get away with a very basic site, doing simple things like adding graphics and having a nice layout can go a long way to giving a great impression of value.The old saying goes that “you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover,” but we all know that people end up doing that anyway! When your membership site looks nice, people will likely have a better impression of it.

Try to do all of the above mentioned tips. A rule of thumb is give 10 times the monthly value and your clients won’t leave.The first month is the most critical, this is when more than eighty percent of your members typically re-question whether they are getting value of their money. When they first originated, I don’t think anyone could’ve imagined just how lucrative and powerful social networking websites like YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were going to be for business growth and exposure. When I started to introduce myself to my community three years ago using MySpace, I was meeting nearly 50 people a day online. The traffic this drew to my website was unheard of. Almost every single day there is another massive earn money through the internet product launch that everyone and their best friend seems to be promoting, the price tag is huge and it appears to be the best thing since sliced bread. Once upon a time it was prudent to advise marketers to send their articles to the major article directories. However, this is now and now is different. A lot different. First of all, major article directories such as Ezinearticles can be really particular about the approval process for the content. It is easy to spend too much time trying to get an article approved. The process is even slower for free members. But hey, who is going to pay to send one article to one site in order to get it approved more quickly? Duh?

Then comes the issue of backlinks. When you submit your articles to Ezinearticles (EZA) you get backlinks from only one IP address. So after a while the backlinks are less effective than the first ones were. It is also evident that EZA has different policies in place for different level members relative to hyperlinks in resource boxes. That seems unfair to me and it creates a lot of aggravation for my students just learning to use their service.

When WordPress became the default content management system and publishing platform for new sites, there was also a lot of ways this “new” technology could be used to syndicate articles easily. With WordPress you can create a user account with the ability to only publish articles. With that user account in hand you now have the ability to receive free articles and publish them on your site if you want.

If you’re going to be receiving free articles there has to be people writing the articles you’ll be receiving and that’s where services like Unique Article Wizard come into play. These services allow you a lot of freedom with your article syndication and some even allow you to put your affiliate links in the articles. With this type of freedom you can write good articles and make money whenever anyone reads them and buys a product via your affiliate link embedded in the article.

Not only does “EZA” (and other article directories) prohibit placing your affiliate links directly in your articles, they are not especially helpful with syndication. Many authors who have had their articles republished discover that the links have been left out. But since no one is monitoring that, you are the one who must become involved it you want to correct the situation. That is a time consuming hassle.

It does seem that the major article directories are dying a slow death. Why? Because they are not much help when it comes to syndication and that means they are not keeping up with the times. When companies like this do not keep up with the needs of their users they experience a loss of trust and value and over time are less desirable to use. However, since these major article directories have been around so long and their content approval procedures are so strict, they do really well in the search engines and they get your articles ranked well still.

Posting duplicate content to many places simultaneously can get those links discredited. Since there’s so much of this duplicate content getting propagated only a few of these content pieces will get indexed, and only a small minority of the links will be applied towards your sites. Article syndication services like isnare are less effective too, because they post duplicate content to a whole bunch of places. When you post duplicate content to a lot of places at once, many of those links are discredited and worthless. When you syndicate your articles, you can receive backlinks from hundreds or thousands of sites and IP addresses. That is much better than from one single site.

In order to obtain useful backlinks you must have different sites link to you and they must be quality sites. Services such as Linkvana can give you hundreds of good backlinks. It does not require long articles or a long wait for the article approval. The scene is changing dramatically regarding backlinks. My guess is that it wont be too long before the major directories start to play a lesser role.

If you’re online you know that you need to build a list. It’s a crucial part of marketing your business. Prospect who have happened upon your site and liked you enough to sign up for whatever offer you have have are the prospects you need to keep yourself in front of to sell your products.

There is an interesting tactic to use to help you triple or quadruple your list subscribers quickly. It’s known as “co-registration.” It’s really powerful when used right. It is a method that requires you contact a few other similar vendors. For instance, if you sell women-oriented hair products, you might contact supplement, beauty and fashion vendors.

Each of you would participate in an ezine or site where you would each do free offers, etc. Be sure to only work with very targeted similar-type products to keep your list streamlined and very focused. You could branch out and start working with 10 or 20 partners, but your list could get un-targeted.

When you contact these co-partners, you need to be clear about what’s in it for them. Let them know the opportunities this ideas presents. Be clear about what they are expected to do to participate. If you’re collecting lists, let them know. Some vendors may not be interested in turning over their list but you can use this tactic even so. The important thing is that they need to make a special offer to the subscribers or visitors of the site. By having visitors subscribe or sign up for their particular freebie offer, they will able to collect names and grow their list.

For instance you could set up a form on the site for the member if they don’t have an autoresponder. Each vendor would be responsible for sending out their own freebie offer, newsletter, etc.

Each week (or whatever agreed upon timeframe), each member would email their list of new leads that came in that week. The master list would be compiled and sent to each member. In other words, if each member received 25 new prospects that week and you had 5 participating members, your list would have a total of 250 new prospects.

Use this “master list” to send a mailer to the entire list. All sign-ups for offers would get the particular freebies they requested, but also they’d get a mailer that had “ads” and offers for the group. Each participant could have a set amount of space in the mailer and provide new content for each mailer. Building a large list quickly is very possible using this co-registration method and it’s open to whatever creativity you and your members have!

These prospects are interested in you enough to sign up for a freebie, so it stands to reason they’ll be interested in paying money for things in the future.

A powerful tools is called co-registration leads. In a nutshell, it’s where you work with a few other like-minded vendors to set up a site and all collect leads. Of course, these vendors should be similar to your business to make this apply (if you sell food storage items, your other vendors should be food, kitchenware, cooking items, etc.)

Naturally you’d want to work with very similar product vendors to keep your list streamlined. Start with maybe 5 or 8 at the most. Keep it small and grow from there. This may be a new idea for some of these vendors so when you first contact them about being involved, let them know how they can benefit. Spell out what they need to do to participate.

The primary request is that they make a special offer to the visitors of the co-vendor site. A visitor may sign up for all offers, or just one. It doesn’t matter, because all participants would get a chance to peddle their wares to this member. First, you need a co-vendor webpage. A simple way is to have one person responsible for being webmaster and each member would contribute the script for their own autoresponder or just a way to collect the leads.

One person should be the webmaster of the page where the free offers from the co-vendors exists. Each member should submit the script to be included on the site. This script (usually for their own autoresponder) will direct subscribers to their own thank you page, etc. (Be sure each participating member knows he/she is responsible for their own products and subscriptions.) They will handle all fulfillment of their own products, freebies, etc.

Each week (or whatever agreed upon timeframe), each member would email their list of new leads that came in that week. The master list would be compiled and sent to each member. In other words, if each member received 25 new prospects that week and you had 5 participating members, your list would have a total of 250 new prospects.

You could also send a co-vendor mailing once a month to each lead on the list. All vendors would have “ad space” in the mailing and you could provide a couple of good articles in the mailer. Working with vendors who participate and do their part will help you all build a big, targeted list pretty quickly!

Chances are you have sold products to a few hundred or even a few thousand customers if you have been selling on eBay for a while. What have you done to market to these customers?

The first rule does not only affect recurring commission products, but also applies to any affiliate products you’re promoting.

Don’t forget, it is the benefits your referred customers are receiving to warrant them to continue investing in their recurring products.

2) Squeeze more money from closed-door affiliate programs.

Closed-door affiliate programs are those that require you to buy their products to be their affiliates. You won’t be charged an arm and a leg to join; you just need to find the qualified ones to join.
