I’m looking for some new routes around Milwaukee, Wisconsin starting from the East Side (UWM neighborhood). I share a car so I don’t use it often and I’m having troubles getting a ways without running into a rough area of town. I’ve been doing Lakefront, Santa Monica and the Oak Leaf for the most part. Any other cool areas around for those of you that ride here?
Or does anyone know of a website for exchanging routes for bicycles?

People assume that other people know more than they do. That’s often a Myth. You actually know as much about Global Warming as anybody else does. Heck, you can probably predict what the weather is going to be tomorrow just as well as your local forecaster and the National Weather Service combined.
For instance, if “they” say it will rain tomorrow, you know the chances are about one out of three that it will. And if they warn you about “the big storm” coming in 2 days….you can pretty much toss that forecast out the window.
NOW “they” say they can predict GLOBAL warming! Remember the “Greenhouse effect”? They kind of gloss over the fact actual Greenhouse effects aren’t showing up well in the data. Observe how much press you have been reading about how the four major global temperature tracking groups show that the temp has dropped 75/100 of a degree in the last year. That pretty much wipes out the last 100 years of the warming trend, by the way.
Remember the predictions about the ice caps melting and sea levels rising to the top of the Statue of Liberty? (I exaggerate) Well, you have a glass with ice in it. What happens when the ice melts. The liquid level stays they same. Greenland Ice may melt some, but that’s only about 20 feet worth at worst. And who in their right mind is living less than 20 feet above sea level? Waves can be larger than that.
You also remember how pollution was a huge deal and we had to get those nasty pollutants out of the air? Well, with the industrialization of the US grinding to a halt, the air quality has made huge leaps in quality. So what do the voices have left? Why, Carbon dioxide of course!
You can read where the “Greenhouse effect” makes the surface of Venus so hot you could melt lead. Sure….but that’s not a living planet either. Actually, there’s only one.
Lets just forget that we EXHALE carbon dioxide. Lets forget that plant life THRIVES on carbon dioxide (CO2). And do plants have the ability to absorb CO2? Sure but can they keep up? WHAAAT?? I dunno….have you ever, in your life, seen a plant grow twice as many leaves? Leaves it can use to absorb CO2? I dunno….it could take….a DAY maybe.
And the oceans. They cover 90% of the planet. Could they absorb more CO2? Its said they could store about 20 years worth of all the CO2 we currently produce. And forests. There is a lot of talk about how much forest we loose, yet it still contains most of the planets biomass.
I read a classroom project where students mapped out a grid of about 10 feet square in the forest and estimated it’s biomass. From one year to the next the biomass increased by 300%.
So, do you think that plant life could possibly increase enough to absorb any extra CO2 in the atmosphere? Let’s try to live with climate change instead of fighting it. Odds are good the climate is going to fluctuate no matter what we do.
SEO is intended to help people find you.
The more new customers you get, or the more people who find you, the more income you can make. The numbers of people are only part of the equation though. You need to interact with every visitor as much as possible.
Why can’t I just focus on getting more visitors using Search Engine Optimization? What is important about “Web 2.0″?
The Dan Kennedy / Jay Abraham systems focus on this fact:
A. The number of customers coming in the door times…
B. The size of the order they place times…
C. How often they buy again = equals All the money you make.
It’s not complicated. It’s way better to know all three and develop them in synconicity. Here is what many people do. They start where they are now 1×1×1=1 and focus on one of the three parts.
Business Method #1
2×1×1=2 3×1×1=3 4×1×1=4 5×1×1=5 6×1×1=6 7×1×1=7 8×1×1=$8
But Dan Kennedy says to work on all three at the same time.
Better Business Method #2
1×1×1=1 2×2×2=8 3×3×3=$27
Look at the results from #2 compared to #1.
#1. He has busted his rear to get 8 times as many new customers or dollars. THAT is a LOT of work. Now he is making 8 times as much income.
Look at pattern #2. By focusing on all three at one time, his income is now 27 times what it was when he started.
What is easier? Finding 8 times as many customers, or 2 times as many customers? If you have a “Brick and Mortor” store: which is easier to fit inside… twice as many customers or 8 times as many? If these are monthly plans, who is doing better after 8 months of work? If you are on-line: which is easier to deal with twice as many on your list or 8 times? Sure, Aweber makes a large list easier, but if you loose connection with your people, you loose out on the other two parts. You’re just making life harder for yourself. Search Engine Optimization is one part of the picture. But don’t forget to increase your order size and get the customer back. DO NOT DO what my friend did….offer a product, then hope people return to you.
He lost everything.

Q: Chas, on sales pages, should I use short copy or long?
Simple answers. There are 2.
1. What works best in your sales page situation.
2. What has worked best in the past.
#1 Test.
And don’t forget to leave things out when you test. A sales page may do well without a body or without a enev a headline. Maybe without a price. Test and see what reality is without assumptions.
#2 What headlines stick around the longest?
The majority of long lasting sales pages have headlines that are under 131 characters in length.
What sales pages stick around the longest?
The majority are 1.5 pages long, around 700 words. Short copy actually comes on the heels of “Long Copy”. In the “Got Milk?” case, words/copy have been spoken on the subject. Many times over the course of many years. VERY long copy. In the case of subscribers, they may read for 3 months before buying. Maybe years. At purchase time just a couple fine words are needed. My mom said asked if we “had Milk” in front of my ears for 18 years. I don’t need long copy for that sale. “Got Milk?” is enough copy to improve sales of that particular product.
You can’t use the campaign “Got Tesla?” for a 125 mph electic roadster. It would be cute….but not that effective.
But I could be wrong. The last word always comes from the customers actions. Don’t think that ad agencies work that way. They’d be broke if they got paid for actual results.

I’m not suggesting you buy from these sales pages. Though you’ll find it hard to resist many of them. They are that good.

I noticed today that Google has made a subtle change on the Google trends graphs. For those unfamiliar with Google trends, it’s a free service that sometimes gives insights into search numbers for some keywords. It has usually failed me for more than 3 words keyphrases, or any low searched phrases.
But for referance sake, you could look at “Acrylic Paint” and expect about 500 uniques a day if you were in the #1 position. Similar “Secret” key keywords are “Type 2 diabetes?” and “Male Yeast Infection”. All three have about the same search numbers year round, year after year.
Now, the cool thing is that Google has added a tiny graph bar to the results and is telling me that my smaller keyword = 1.00 And that my second keyword phrase is now rated at “38″. Using my Algebraic skillset, a calculator, a Hershey bar, 2 pencils and a white board…. I reckon that means if my smaller keyphrase was 100 searches per day, then the other one would be 3800 searches per day. They even have added a little drop down box to change the reference keyword to one of your other phrases. You can test up to three keyphrases at one time using commas between them.
How accurate is the Google Trends info? After doing the math, I found the search numbers were in the same ball park as WordTracker. So with the two giving the same results, I’d say they are both somewhat accurate.
Now that I’ve given away three Super Secret Search Keywords, you are free to figger out from Google Trends how many searches a site would get, per day, in the #1 spot. For your reference, this number is about 4 times higher than Google or wordtracker reports. But that has to do with all the other work that goes into getting the #1 spot.

I have all these files to sort. Lucky me. Lucky you.
100 Expressive Words to utilize in convincing copy.
Or not to.
They are ranked according to a software tool I utilize that measures how long the words remains popular on sales pages.
Meaning the ones toward the bottom are not as profitable. You can take my word for it or test them yourself.
